Clothes Fall Off Hanging Bar

Is there a way to secure clothes hangers to prevent them from falling off the rod every time we relocate? We have a plain single rod and use tubular plastic hangers. Perhaps a different style rod or a different type of hanger?

There are hangers with a more complete loop type hook on them. We found some at WalMart which also have a suede like material on the rest of the hanger, meaning clothes don't slip off the hanger.

Some folks cut a foam swim noodle right down the center.
You know so it's a half circle when viewed from the end.
Place the 1/2 noodle over the clothes rod. It should be a snug fit between
the rod and the top of the closet.

OR try hanging them with the hooks facing the opposite way you do now.
Our first trailer would bounce the clothes off the rod.
I hung them in there "backwards" and they didn't fall off!!
I didn't think of that - it was suggested to me by others but it really worked.

Also possible to use the rubber shelf liner and glue to the rod. worked for my wine bottles on the wine rack.

Install a cup hook on each side of the closet at the level of the sloping portion of the hanger close to the hook and stretch a bungee cord from cup hook to cup hook.

That black 1" DIA foam pipe insulation might work too.

I am the hefty trash bag kind of packer, so rarely do I hang clothes in the camper....I have seen these hangers from the same folks who make the levelers.

We have two tension curtain rods that we put on each side of the main closet rod. Some people use shorter versions in the fridge to keep things in place while traveling. We place them right down on top of the shoulders of the hangers and everything stays in place.

My clothes always fall off the hangers while traveling. I got some hangers at CW that will stay on the rod but the clothes usually fall out the hanger anyway. I now use a plastic clip to keep the clothes attached to the hanger. Just need one on the hanger on the side closest to the door and it works. I brought them at K-Mart but I have seen them at Wal-Mart too.

Not exactly the same item but here is a link of a similar item. The clip is design to fit onto the hanger.

We had the slotted rod and hated it, couldn't slide the hangers across. Always wanted a regular pole, well the screws came out and the rod fell down, last camping trip. Woo Hoo! I was so excited, but reading some of your posts has me baffled.

Really clothes hanging on a regular pole come off the pole/hangers when traveling?

We haven't installed the pole yet, the bedroom closets are short, maybe 30" wide, just hangs shirts. So I wouldn't think sliding would be a problem.

I have used a length of 12awg wire to loop around one end of the bar then against the side of the hanger hook then loop around the opposite end of the bar. Works the same as a bungie but doesn't compress the clothes.

We use the suede like hanger to. Seems to hold pretty good can not really say we ever had a problem. Tried the plastic ones they just plane fell off the rod. You can buy the wooden one's like in a hotel closet. Take the rod off slide them on re-install the rod and for sure they will not fall off. You can always just bend a regular wire hanger and bend the loop hanger down and around. I just don't like the wire myself but that would work. One last think change the poll to wood that will also help.

My closet is in the rear and I don't have a lot hanging which might be part of the issue. Maybe with more clothes the hangers would bounce around less but I fold all my clothes. The only items I hang up are a sweater, couple of hoodies and a hanging laundry bag.

My cousin doesn't have any problem with clothes falling off in her trailer but her closet is in the front and I'm sure it's packed to the max (so much so that I bet there's no need to use hangers ).

Hang every other hanger the opposite direction to the one next to it. Takes a little more time but the clothes do not fall off!

Get 2 blocks of wood and drill a hole in each to fit a spring loaded curtain rod and mount the blocks so the rod is just above the sloping part of the hangers.
