Converter Problem 2011 Salem hemisphere

My trailer has just been purchased and has never been used. The converter is not charging my battery and upon a closer look the 2 - 35amp fuses in the converter were blown. My battery was low again at this point almost drained, when i put 2 - 30 amp fuses in to see what would happen they blew right away. would the battery being almost drained cause too much of a draw on the converter. i was told that incorrect wiring from the manufacturer is common.

will take 4 weeks to get into a local dealer for service. i bought the unit out of province so im at the bottom of the priority list and the long holiday weekend is next week..

any suggestions?

Could the battery be hooked up backwards?

Those fuses protect the converter from reverse polarity. No telling what could be fried in the camper from Fridge to Concertone if the power actually got into the rig reversed.

Double check please.

It is in warranty. Back to the dealer.
Charge the battery to make sure you have emergency brakes.

you mentioned about other components being fried, there's also a 15amp breaker for the converter. everything works fine when the battery is fully charged and the 120v are ok.

I was tallking about the 2 40 amp fuses on the DC side (note page 7).

The 15 AMP breaker provides AC to run the converter AND the kitchen and living room outlets in my camper. What were they thinking?
