Cost of waxing your RV?

Hello,

How much do you pay to wash and wax your RV? I think for us all to compare apples to apples, we should quote in price per foot, or at least mention the length of your rig.

I've got a 2015, 25' Forester MBS (the Bobmobile). In my town of Grants Pass, Oregon, there are two outfits and they both want $450! I think this is criminally insane. I specify that I am not looking for a "Detail", just a simple waxing to protect the paint. They still want $450. This works out to $18 per foot of length.

Also, in calling around other cities, sometimes they won't quote without knowing the brand and model. Even after I've explained that it's three years old with no oxidation. I think that those vendors that need that info and then call back later with a quote are looking up the RV price to see what they can get away with charging.

I understand that they're in business to make money, but two years ago I had an excellent job in Seattle for $200, and a decent job last week in Portland for $250.

So what do you pay (per foot) in your area?

Also, can anyone recommend a good "Do it Yourself" website or tutorial, perhaps on Youtube? There are probably hundreds of them, does anyone have a favorite they could share? Thanks

I always ask about waxing our 35' fifth when in different locals. Anywhere from $250 to $450 is the range.

Buy a dual action variable speed polisher. Look at the Meguiar's website in their marine/RV fiberglass wax section. Lots of products for whatever level of oxidation you have or don't have. They also have pretty good instructions and advice.

The one that works for me with light oxidation is the flagship premium marine wax M6332.

They also have fiberglass wash and wax or just wash products.

It usually takes me about 2 hours to do one side and an hour to do one end with a polisher. So about 6 hours total.

Central Coast of California. $10 per foot for wash and wax and they will come to your campsite and do it for you.

I still think that is crazy high so I do it myself. Here are some of the products I use. I really like the 303 protectant - I use it on all the vinyl, rubber, and plastic. The Quik Shine is great for touch ups and removing bugs from the front cap.

BTW - just spent three nights at Riverpark RV Park on the Rogue. Had a great time and enjoyed Grants Pass.

I wash and wax my own vehicles. Just put carnuba wax on my daily today. Costs me about ten cents a foot for a beautiful pure carnuba wax shine.

I do my own. $30 for a buffer/polisher and $23 for Meguiar's 50 Marine/RV One Step Cleaner Wax (enough to do the job twice). Complete wash/ wax effort is about 4-5 hours - including the roof.

I use Top Coat F-11 on my 5th Wheel. Takes me about 4 hours over a two day period.

I use Lucas Slick Mist. Goes on very easy and protects great. Takes about 1.5 hours to wax the TT.

I get me RV washed waxed when we are set up in Tucson for the winter, the going rate for most of the people who come around the RV parks is $5-6 per foot. My 40' 5er usually costs $200-240 and they do a fantastic job this even includes the roof, and windows (outside). I like to do mine at least once a year to protect the finish from the harmful UV rays.

I'm getting pretty fond of the Meguires spray wax. I,m sure its not as great as a proper wax job, but its fast, I'm getting lazier, and I don't dread the job.

Pine Island, Florida. Hand wash and hand wax my 38 foot Georgetown for $325.

~$6.50/ft in Casa Grande. My 38ft 5th wheel takes 3-4 bottles of Maguires Gold Class to do.

I also use the Meguires Waterless Wash/Wax between full wash/wax jobs. Keeps the trailer looking nice on the road.

They want $150 to wash, $11 per foot to wash and wax at my campground in Naples, FL. I buy the wash job and then use "The Solution" on my 40 ft FR Cottage myself. Easy to do and lasts at least a year.
I use the same product on my car and golf cart.

Am at Lazy Days Koa in Tucson. Come here 2 times a year and always have RV wash and Wax. Tucson RV Wax charges $377.00. Our RV is a 40 foot 5th. It takes them 2 1/2 hours and they do an excellent job.

I do my own. Rockwood Signatur Ultralight, 8315BSS, 35" Travel Trailer. I have been using shurhold's ProPolish since 2013. Trailer like look it did when I bought it. Easy to apply and take off. I'm 78 and can do it in one day.

I hired two guys from the marina I've done business with. Quoted me $250 sight unseen or about $10.86/ft. (23ft.) My RV hadn't been waxed in the 5 years I've owned it, not pretty. 2.5 hours later I've got a looking new 13 year old Surveyor. They used a McGuairs liquid cleaner/wax.

I'm a happy camper :-)

We are in San Diego at a KOA and we had our 2104s washed and waxed for $175.

Wow! I can’t believe how cheap you guys down there can get your trailer waxed! There are very few options around here and minimum wage is now $14/hr in Ontario, so I paid CDN$600 to have my 32’ TT washed and waxed. Unfortunately, with my bad back, I can’t do it myself.
