Dad and Mom "wrestling" - sliding bedroom door issue
Ok, so I've never had to use the wrestling excuse, as most of our adult "activity" occurs after the kids have gone to sleep in their rooms and it all has been behind a locked bedroom door. Boring I know...
In my planning efforts, as any RV'er should...I've been wondering about well you know....
We ended up with the TT that has a sliding bedroom pocket door. So what kind of suggestions can I get for keeping this thing secure? If we were making one day trips it would be different and not a concern, but we are planning week long trips so it is definitely on the concern list.
Best to be a good planner.

If it's only a week, I strongly suggest you try COLD SHOWERS. If that doesn't work, try putting the kids to bed, let the camp fire burn down, and find some bushes!!!

HAHA! Well I'm 40, not 80. So the cold showers ain't gonna work. And my wife's a few years younger than I am...but your bushes idea, well that's an option...

True, Don (and/or Dona if it was a team contribution) That is a solid option that didn't cross my mind. Those power folding third row seats are convenient...
Surely I thought OC would have been here crafting up a solution right now...that guy can fabricate a satellite dish out of a tuna can. OC???

Put a sock on the door 😬
Seriously tho, look at the floor where the door slides, a 2x4 between the door and wall on my camper 36" long prevents the door from opening.
No OC overhaul engineering needed

100% correct. And their spotlight is something I'd rather not be in at this point...as I said, I'm not 80, I'm 40...but then again...I ain't 20 either!
That would be a true risk/reward scenario.

That is priceless TURBS. I'm going out to measure and check for valid engineering anchor points.
And yes, I can report back after in depth testing...
And no, no pics...

Be thankful you are not in a popup with curtain I still remember those days. But really the sock idea sounds good and can be explained easily where there's a will there's a way.

Yep, you are definitely a VW guy with that attitude. Not saying there's anything wrong with that...to each their own. But that would work better in a college roommate environment.
My kids are 11 years, 8 years, and 3 months. So while I know that whatever I come up with won't be totally older kid-proof (if they messed with it for a few min.), I still need more than a sock.

Give the kids a roll of quarters and send them to the game room with instructions to make the quarters last an hour. Worked for us! If no game room, then sorry about your luck.

Very nice, ddphillips52. And if there is no game room just tell them to look for one, right? haha! I wish I could do this, but my 11 y/o is about as socially advanced as my 8 y/o. So for this summer anyway, it doesn't work for me. Dang it!
If I just had a 5r this wouldn't be an issue. Time to upgrade??? Haha!

Wouldn't a simple hook and loop lock work?
We don't have locks on our doors in the camper- we just make sure daughter is very asleep before any funny business happens.
And, if she walks in... well, we'll be having a very frank discussion the next day. (If she remembers- she's a sleep walker.)

The link in my sig should show the lock I put on the sliding bathroom door. You're <$5 from a solution. Look in the Sabre album.

The pocket door on our bathroom has twist latch/vinyl straps on it...can be secured open or closed. I'm thinking a small drill bit and a tiny padlock lock would secure the door.
Or just install a hasp type latch on the door and door facing, drop a 10 penny nail through the hasp. (shrug) If you wanna go fancy paint the latch and 10 penny nail to match the wood finish.

If you have to buy something would that be considered paying for it?

Damn...must me nice to be young and have these problems! We could drive to Alaska and back and never have that problem "arise"
But our slider has a loop and snap to keep it open, I think the same could be used to keep it closed.
