Dometic Power Awning Sun Shades

Anyone using sun shades on their awning to block out the sun?

Looking to use someting across the front and on at least one side.

If so, what brand name are you using?

Thanks!

I have a Dometic awning and recently bought a Care Free sun shade. Slides right in the groove on the awning roll. Seems to really cut down on the heat.

Did you get the shades for the sides too?

Check out J&J Sunshades at rvmat.com | Home Page. They will make whatever you want with a huge selection of colors and patterns. I was referred to them by youroo and I am so grateful for his tip. This company is literally a Mom & Pop operation, in Florida, and all they want to do is please you and provide one of the best products you can find. Everything is Made in the USA and comes with a lifetime guarantee. The mat and sunshade they made for me are phenomenal.

Also, from the time I ordered my custom-sized mat and sunshade to the time I received them was only six days.

How is the breathability of a sunshade? I am guessing they do block good bit of the breeze but does some (%) get thru?

I purchased a cheap sunshade at an RV flea market. The top part of the shade slides in very easily into the slot on the roller. The sunshade zips off leaving about six inches left on the roller, very easy to unzip and the awning roller can actually hold the whole sunshade all rolled up at once. Doesn't even make the rolled up unit look bulky. I do question the stress it may put on the roller motor, makes the motor grunt a bit until about halfway retracted because it is lifting the whole sunshade up. I will probably not leave it zipped on but in an emergency it can be done. Can not remember the name but you will see them at flea markets, rv stores etc.

Careful of buying the proper length.

Depends,on ours a Hard Driving Rain will blow threw and you will "Get Wet"! Just a regular Rain the angled out sun screen acts like a gutter and carries the water off! Yes ours allow Air/Wind through and the Mat allows grass to grow and water to run through also! Ours is a J&J! Youroo!!

I use the Care Free sun shades on the long end and one side( I switch up.) The long end threads ok, but can be tricky to install, much easier with two people on; one on each end pulling to thread. The side I usually just use some clamps & the cords on end. It's too high for me to string. I usually am a short stay camper and go with quick and easy.

Fantastic!

J&J Sunshades, Lake Wales, Fla.

We got a front and a side shade for our 2109S.

Very nice folks, excellent quality, fast shipping!

Also included nice storage bags to stow shades in and a handy beach bag we use to put all our kayak accessories in.

Fit and finish are excellent!
Charcoal gray matches the Dometic awning.

Here are 2 pics with the trailer sitting at home, just to show how nice the J&J sunshades are.

Thanks Gary and Tina of J&J!!
