Emergency road kit question

There will be times (like at the start and end of our 4 week journey) when we will probably do some night driving. The night driving will likely occur between New York State and Colorado. What would you recommend for road flares or markers?

Has anyone tried the LED safety road flares?

Thanks!

The new LED road safety lights are impressive and I believe the future of emergency lighting. They cost more but in the long run may actually be cheaper. I have only seen them demonstrated not actual use.

I have not seen the new led safety lights in operation but think that this is a great idea of an update to the older technology.
I carry the required in this state for all trucks, folding orange reflective triangle type markers that you may have seen big rig use when they break down. I carry them in my big tool box in the truck.
