We are getting ready to register the Georgetown motor home in Florida. Has anyone gone through the process? Do we need to have the vin number verified to retitle in Florida? I'm getting conflicting information and want to ensure that I have the correct information before the long drive.
All we has to do was bring the title to the county title office. Unlike cars that have to have the VIN and mileage checked, they take the data from the title. You have to buy your plate down here, extra $70+. About $400 to register a unit. We are in Charlotte Co, took about 30-45 minutes total. You can do the DL, car, RV all at the same time, same office. For your DL, be sure to bring two proofs of your residency (water bill, tax bill, letters to your address with your names, etc).
We moved to Florida several years ago and the title info was sufficient for the coach, drivers license is another animal. For the man it wasn't to bad just a birth certificate and 2 other forms of ID, now for the lady, a birth certificate, marriage license, 2 proofs of ID, if it's her second marriage she needs to have a divorce decree along with the other items listed. Great place to live and have fun in love Florida.
All that stuff is the 'Real ID' now mandated by Congress. Your DL has to be verified by all this stuff, no matter the state, or you can't fly, etc. not just Florida. Had to do this when we had our last DL renewal in Texas.

Yes, all vehicles must be verified. If not convenient to bring to M/V office, you can arrange for local sheriff or police officer to visit and scribe the Vin number. That's how we did it in Oct. '13. We're FT 6 months in FL. Call ahead and confirm what's acceptable for paper work proof.
