Help with EZ Pass

I have a C class Forester and my EZ Pass cannot be detected. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a solution?

Do you have a windshield mount or a license plate mount?

Are you trying to go through toll booths or get detected passing a toll zone? I have had no problems in a class c (Ford e450) in the past and currently with my class a. What states?

nbrewer,
Welcome to the Forums! Where do you have the transponder mounted? We have had ezpass for quite a while and have not had any problems. Our transponder is mounted low on the windshield touching the dashboard. It wad mounted there on our class c's and the same with our class A's. If you have it mounted high on the windshield, that may be what is causing your problem.

I had similar issue. On my 2006 Sunseeker, I mounted a decal on the front bunk window. When I bought the 2014 Thor Four Winds, no window. Went to SUNPass and bought the license plate mount. I think it was about $20 and they gave me theft-proof screws. Of course, you will have to make your license plate mount security theft-proof too. Bought those screws in an auto store.
Now, I transferred the bumper mount to our latest endeavor, the Class A Mirada.

Will the SUNPass work on both toll roads North and South? I was told that Sunpass would work from Fort Pierce South to Miami, and going North from Orlando is another system that it will not work? I would have to buy one from them, that it is two different systems in Florida.

This for glju….,
Hope this finds you, tried the thread but wasn’t having any luck.
Not driving many toll roads at all the pass seemed the why to go. While looking at the different state requirements VA seemed the fairest.
I called up , they set it up for the the 5’er and offered another one for just the truck which we didn’t and haven’t needed.
It cost $5 for the pass and we have an on-line account that we recharge when needed.
Since VA is southern I guess I trusted them more then Jersey!
Now that is one expensive state to drive through towin!
Also in my research Sunpass was only good in Florida. E_Z was good everywhere else even Chiago.

If you windshield has an integrated sun shield ( small dark dots in the upper area of the windshield or what appears to be tinting) it will block the signal. You have two options, Mount the transponder low on the window or request a license plate transponder. The LPT is made specifically for vehicles with integrated sun screens.

I had a similar issue with our solera. I moved the transponder to the lowest part of the windshield. I haven't tried it yet but called ezpass and they told me the sensors in the toll booths are mounted on the ceilings. Up high so the class c overhang interferes with the signal.

We live in eastern Virginia and travel across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, the Chesapeake Toll Road into North Carolina and west through Richmond in our Class A towing an HHR. Never had any RV related problems. EZ Pass mounted on the windshield behind the mirror. I've always found the folks in the EZ Pass office in Gloucester VA most cooperative if a problem came up.

If your registered in New York State you need to apply for an RV easy pass. With a Class C you will be charged double whatever the cost of the car was on the thruway.

Windshield--I switch using it with my car and RV. Some have said top windshield and behind mirror. We will try again. I just hate causing a line to form because my EZ pass was not detected.

Thank you. Maybe the best solution is to get the LPT. I am registered in PA and will call them. Thanks a lot.

SUNPass and EPass are one in the same and as of about 2 years ago work everywhere.

If you don't need to move the EZPass from vehicle to vehicle, buy one of the window stickers that have no batteries.
