I put a series of hooks, big ones, 1.99 at Lowes and coil and hang my cord and hoses. Additionally I have velcro straps on everything. Once it's hung I cinch it up and it's stored. Neat, off the floor and not moving around while traveling.

I got my reel from harbor freight. It was under $20. I wonder my 50 amp 36 foot cord on it and probably could wind another 10 feet on it. Another thing to consider is attaching it to the top of compartment , allowing storage under Neath the cord. What I saved over the moor cord reel more than paid for a weekend of camping. Go to harbor freight and get air hose reel.

I'll confirm for you it's true. I've personally seen it happen to someone. Do not use an extension cord while its wound on a reel. A RV power cord is just a large extension cord. It can melt and short out (like in the pic) and possibly cause a fire.

Gadgets like this are cool and one of the things that keeps people interested in working on or with their RV's. there are so many options out there and they all work for somebody. I wish I had room in my compartment to install one. I have a wrestling match with my 50A cord every time I take it out or put it back in. I'm gonna have to look at modifying things over the winter. That's the best part about owning an RV, if you can't use it because the weather is bad, figure out what you can do to improve it to for your needs.

I don't need 50A, just 30A, but I'll mention that when I needed more cord I opted to buy 2 - 20' cords rather then one 40' cord.

Just sayin', if possible it's easier to manage several shorter cords than one mondo one.

That's what I screwed to the "basement" wall. It keeps the cord off the "floor," not quite as easy as a reel but simpler.

We converted our last TT to a Marinco ParkPower setup - not a big job.

Mods - Marinco 30ARVKIT

Luckily our current trailer came that way.

As for the cord, I coil it (alternating over- and underhand). I used to put it in a vinyl bag but I like the idea of putting it just inside the door better!

Because we camp in Ontario parks we carry two 50' 30A extensions. I keep those coiled in a bin when not in use but they're heavy. I'm thinking of splitting one into two smaller cords.

I only have one of the two A.C. installed so I leave my 50 amp cord at home. I purchased a 30 foot 30amp cord with a 50 amp female end on it. Lighter, no adapters to deal with. Then I have my 50 foot 20 amp extension (from previous trailer) if I need more length. Hope DW never needs the second A.C. installed. 😂

But if I were to change mine I would just spice in a male & female 30amp plug in side the storage compartment ,,, and use the existing cord door !!!

I simply coil my 50A cable into the crate and remove only the length I need to reach the plug-ins. Added bonus...the crates have slotted carry handles for easy pickup and carrying. Our primary goal for the mod was to eliminate the cord hatch... they call it a mouse hole for a reason!
