Need help with hitch 5th Wheeler

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum and new in having a 5th Wheeler (previous Travel Trailer owner).

Is there a member on this forum that live in and/or near Wilmington, Ohio (Cincinnati, Dayton or Lebanon area) that can show me how to hitch a 5th Wheel to the tow truck/hitch? I know, I would feel more comfortable if I had someone that has experience to show me (versus watching a video).

Thanks Ace

Was this a private purchase or from dealer? Either way, the seller or dealer should show you how this is done. Alot of youtube vids on this topic...just remember to drop your tailgate.

Its very basic, use common sense. try to have your ramp, on the hitch, approx. 1/2" above flat on trailer. firmly engage hitch. everything should click/snap into place. when unhitching, relieve load on kingpin. back truck up 1/2" then put in park, set brake and release. try to be level as possible. as long as it appears the king pin will set in hitch jaws, it is good to go. practice @ home until you can easily do it urself.

Ace I wish I was closer to assist. I had the typical Dealer 2 minute lesson, learned the rest myself. Maybe there is a trailer club in the area that has someone that might help. I know what you mean about having a experienced person to help.

My dealer said I didn't need grease, well he knew nothing!

go ahead and practice a couple of times in your drive or where ever your fifth wheel is parked just take it slow and stop to get out look as many time as needed to fill comfortable
you'll want the trailer about 1/2 lower than the truck so it rides up on the hitch untill your here the sweet sound of a load click/clunk when it latches in
if you have a pullrite hitch just make sure your lined up,
