No hot water on Electric side
Surburban 6 gallon unit on my Windjammer. No hot water on eletric side, so the element has to be gone, right.
With much research here on replacing the hot water element, I found out that wasn't the problem. Bought the new element (Amazon) and 1 1/2 inch socket (Lowes has these BTW). Old element was a bit corroded but fine looking (no splits).
Anyway, back to research and found out about the hi/lo thermostats. I pulled the reset cover off the thermostats and sure enough, the fusible link was gone on the left side (AC thermostats). Right sided DC propane thermostats were fine with link in place.
So my point is don't assume you have a bad element just because your hot water heater won't work on electricity. A DVM check on the zero voltage across the element would have told me that.
So, now I have an extra (older) element, another thermostat on order for a backup and a lot more experience with Surburban RV water heaters.
