Parking Trailer on Sloped driveway

We recently brought our trailer home, and I've been concerned about parking it at the top of our sloped driveway.......even with regular wheel chocks (I kept dreaming about finding in the middle of our street some morning..... ). I found some scrap lumber and made two home-made wheel chocks. The trailer wheels sit on a small section of plywood to which the 'chock' is attached. Therefore it is not possible for the trailer to 'creep', at least down our moderately sloped driveway.

As long as the actual chocks are large enough and are securely attached to the planks.....it’s not gonna go anywhere.

How sloped is your driveway? Im about to bring home our new Roo and our driveway is REALLY sloped (downhill) but then levels off at the bottom. Thats why we went with a smaller unit (233S). Im a lil nervous and have boards ready in case it wants to scrape toward the bottom.

Yes sir. I just went out to the driveway and took another look. Our trailer is 21 feet long, coupler to rear tire, and I would estimate the driveway drops 7 to 8 inches over that distance.............which granted isn't much, but I was concerned enuf to build the chocks. I sleep much better at night.

I bought 4 of the big heavy duty rubber wheel chocks that smell really bad. I'm not so much worried about it rolling down hill as it's pretty level at the bottom of the driveway. It's getting down there that will be fun. I'll be squeezing the button for the trailer brakes probably the whole way down.

Good morning. Just a little on the damp side in Paradise. Those would be called level driveways in the Ozarks. My driveway drops about 22 ft in 50 ft. I back my 2104S down it. Would love a level driveway...

You may have me beat actually.. I think my driveway is about 50ft of slope and over that 50ft, drops about 15-20ft. I don't park on the slope though, it levels out at the bottom (about 30ft). So I just need to get down the slope to the level portion.

How is it backing yours down that driveway? Any tips? Any pics? I think your model is coming in around the same weight as a 233S (or a couple hundred lbs less). Does your f150 struggle?

I too have a pretty steep driveway grade and found that if your TV has selectable 4x4, put it in 4x4 low. As long as you don’t crank your front wheels and keep it all relatively straight, the added gearing really helps. It basically backs my 12,000 lb 5er up the driveway effortlessly this way.
I actually put a switch in my truck cab that disables the front axle actuator (fuse) before shifting the transfer case so effectively I have low range, but only in 2wd. This protected the front axle drive shafts and diff when turning sharp, which I had to do.

Pretty soon I will be getting an F150 in 4WD...i need to go about 30k more miles and then i'll get my new truck. Then I won't be concerned at all. For now my lil 2WD F150 will have to do. I figure i'll just need to apply some trailer braking (manually) all the way down the hill.

I like using the x chocks. I feel very secure with them engaged. First on last off, nothing has rolled on me yet.

On that kind of slope I'd probably install some anchor points at the back of the trailer and use tie-down chains to the bumper.

Hi Roo,
Good afternoon. Just another sunny day in Paradise. Well, I think I have you beat... I also have a small more flat, not flat area to park the TT on. I have a furrion camera and it makes it pretty handy to back.. I make sure my TT brakes are adjusted and and it works out well. If the brakes every let go I may end up on my patio below.... and then comes the lake... Would not be good. Take care and have a great day,

Haha! Ya the lake would not be good...at the bottom of my driveway I have a 3rd car garage and an 8' deep pool just next to that. Not good either.
