plastic taste from new hose
how do you get the plastic taste out of a new hose? Last trip was too far from faucet to reach with my old trusty 25' hose so bought another one and connected them together, rinsed it out and connected as usual. Next morning made coffee and it tasted like plastic REAL bad. Had to throw it out and make it with bottled water. DW made biscuits and gravy and they tasted a bit like plastic. How do you get rid of that taste?

Unfortunately, a very few of those hoses do that.
My brother bought one at a local R/V supply store (drinking water safe) and the odor and taste of plastic were unbearable. He rinsed it several times with bleach and honestly, I think that made it worse. He returned it and got a different one from Wally World. It was OK.
You might try bleach or vinegar but I wouldn't count on it.
Best of luck.

Do you use a water filter? And do you have it at the TT freshwater inlet, not at the supply spigot?

you mean you drink the campground water coming from the hose? Many just buy a gallon jug of water to drink or make coffee... I recall that taste when drinking from the hose when I was a kid... did not kill me, and I finally decided that it tasted so bad I did not want to do it anymore.

I don't think you can from a cheap hose, usually the thin wall kind that kink easy. We bring bottled water for coffee and cooking. Most campground water is ok for showers and cleaning dishes. I still use a good quality potable water hose and one for a spare when one alone won't reach or a hose freezes.

When filling up or at a campground we use a inline filter and also have one on the RV. We also use bottle water for cooking. still haven't had any bad taste or odors from the hoses.

Activated Carbon or Charcoal filter
An in-line filter with activated carbon/charcoal should get rid of any plastic/plasticizer taste from a hose.

Charcoal filters organic contaminants not inorganic like plastic and metals.

Charcoal or Activated carbon will remove the taste.

the only inline filter that would eliminate taste or smell would be one with carbon/charcoal. Never used one. Yes, it was labeled as a "drinking water hose" and it white. We've had the other one for 20+ years, got it with the first new trailer we bought in 1998, don't every remember it smelling/tasting like this. I still fill my trailer straight from my regular garden hose at home, Burbank has pretty decent water and I don't want to carry a bunch of extra bottled water. We do carry small bottled water for regular straight drinking water; in fact I use the tap for "cocktail" water with no problem. I think I'll try soaking it in a bucket with mild vinegar solution and see if that works. I was thinking about trying bleach but 5Picker said that didn't work for his BIL.

Mix up some baking soda and water, heavy on the baking soda, and pour it into the hose. Connect the ends and let it sit for a while, shaking it and "rolling" it periodically. Drain and flush and it should be ok.

Just one more thing to carry and hump around. I like simple. Or KISS.
I'll try the baking soda, didn't think about that. Might do vinegar first, then baking soda, that covers both sides of the PH.

I had the same experience. My regular hose burst a a campground, so I bought the cheap one they had in stock. Yuck. Before the next trip I got a high quality green one from Amazon 35'. No bad taste, nice and heavy duty.

If it doesn't work, consider the Zero G water hose. We've been using one for quite a while now (I want to say year+) and it's the cat's meow.
