Another variation on the water bottle thing: Freeze a bottle of water and when frozen solid, put a penny on top. If the freezer warms up the penny will start sinking. How far it sinks depends on how long the power was out.

We sit the hurricanes out so far - prepping the camper filled the grey & fresh water tanks, used painters tape to seal everything against water intrusion and then some 10" screws into the ground to ratchet strap the frame down on all 4 corners. Worked great despite water flooding almost to the bottom (about an inch short when I slogged back there the next day). Happy to pull off all that tape so it didn't get cooked on 2 days later (always cold a day after the hurricanes). We could have lived comfortably in there if the generator had not worked for the house.

They never know with tremendous accuracy where these things land & with COVID all around now not sure what the worst natural disaster issue will be this year ...
