pool noodle as door stop

I have repaired the travel safety strap on the bedroom pocket door several times. The slight movement it allows lets the door bump against it during travel. Eventually this constant bumping damages the strap.

So I used a bit of pool noodle to make a door stop. Jammed in there snuggly, the door will not move.

I've been looking for something to fix this problem. Thanks for posting this. Simple, yet effective.

And no holes to drill! I bought a pool noodle to secure the microwave turntable as suggested by Islander:

One very important use we found for a piece of 'pool noodle' was to keep the microwave turn-table in place underway....was to put a piece of pool noodle install it vertically tightly between the turn-table and the inside top of the microwave.

Hope this helps
Islander

The door stop idea came as I was trying to figure out how to use up the rest of the noodle. About 3 ft to go!

Good idea!

I attached a pool noodle with picture hanging wire to my screen door at home to close up the big gap. Maybe you will find a use of the remaining 36 inches on a house project.

Speaking of doors, is there a creative way to keep a door with a door knob closed when the receiver hole doesn't line up with the knob shaft due to frame shifting when parked?

Very good idea. I have a door where the door knob hits a wooden cabinet. I could put one on the floor in front of cabinet to stop the door. I use a pool noodle and cut it to fit the refrigerator and freezer door. I put in between the freezer door and refrigerator door to keep them open during storage. I works very good.

Take the receiver plate off and file the hole larger in both the up and down positions and then open the wood frame up accordingly. Permanent fix and no Band-Aids.

Thanks. I'm on it. With my set up i can also put one at the other end to cushion it if it slams shut.

If your Pool Noddle is to large you can use Pipe Insulation !!!
I keep a couple of different sizes around all the time !!!

As for the Microwave turn table,,, we remove the glass dish,,,
and put it in the towel drawer !!!

It is kinda nice to come across an inexpensive fix for a lot of things...
...and for me pool noodles are #1.

By cutting a single slit, down to the center hole, allows you to attach them to items like lawn chairs to prevent chafe while stored under way.

I also use it for the items I lash down in the bed of the truck not only for chafe/protection but to stop any noise from the road bumps etc.

I use all sorts of shapes and pieces inside the RV to fill gaps in the draws and cupboards ... even for the furniture when it is lashed down for travel.

For any one using a ladder on or around their RV the pool noodle makes a fantastic "non marring" padding attached to the end or where the ladder touches the RV....again...just cut a slit and it will fit most ladders.

Cut to fit....it is quite popular to put on the corners of the slide outs to prevent head bumps...even down low for the kids height.

Speaking of 'head banging'... I found that the 3/4" pipe insulation fits nicely on the front landing gear drive shaft of 5th wheels, for those of us that have it running through the front storage locker.

I always carry some extra pieces of pool noodle in the storage areas...it is just too darn handy !

Hope this helps
Islander
PS "Radio".... Loved the door stop idea

On my Sunseeker the door is close to awning arms cut a piece of noodle about 16" long then split it so it fits over the arm. Also take noodle pieces about 12" long 45 them and put them on corners of slides saves head bumps.

Update...

Pool noodles, I have discovered, do not like to be under compression. In the door stop and the microwave application the noodle is under compression. They will loose their "springy-ness" rather quickly.

So when you get home, take the noodles out. Don't leave them compressed while the camper is not in use.
