Setting up a tool box
We are taking delivery of our first camper (28 ft trailer) in two weeks. Of course we are trying to figure out what we need to begin our new RV adventures. And a toolbox is essential, but just not sure what I need to put in it. So once again, I am looking for suggestions?
Thanks again and again

Add a rubber mallet, some parachute cord, and a pair of snug-fitting work gloves. (Lots of sharp edges.)

I keep aluminum foil tape for sealing up exterior holes
Eternabond patches for the roof
3/4" pvc plugs to cap off a water line if the fixture breaks
I use a Klein 11-n-1 for most of my screwdriver/nut driver needs
Multi-meter kit
Small non-contact infrared thermometer, use to check tire temps, hub temps, hot spots in electrical circuits, etc.
Moisture meter to check for leaks before they are visible.
Then the usual assortment of pliers and vise grips as you figure out what you need.
Everyone's needs are going to be a bit different, just look at their lists and pick and choose what you need.

If your unit has pex water line, get a couple shark bite slip fittings....cut line, insert fitting as they push on, and repair complete.....also, a jack that will fit under trailer and have enough lift to get a bad tire off.....or, one of those things you can drive up onto..might be called 'trailer aid'...

A supply of fuses and mini circuit breakers that your rig uses.
Supply of assorted lengths of wire ties.
A GOOD tire pressure gauge.
A few valve core inserts and the tool to install them, and a few extra valve caps.
A few pieces of 1/2 inch pex line (cut them to 24" lengths for easy storage), and a few pex push on "sharkbite" type fittings.
An assortment of stainless steel sheet metal, wood screws and a few assorted nuts, bolts, washers.
Small axe, and a small camp saw. Good quality pry bar. Good quality hammer. Good quality multi bit screwdriver.

One more thing....if you do your own electrical repairs, A long jumper wire with alligator clips as finding a ground is a little tuff at times.....I like a 12 volt test light as it's quicker and easier to use in some spots

Make sure you have a good lug wrench. I had a blowout and the lug wrench that came with the camper was not for taking a tire off.

I don't think anyone mentioned a trenching tool and various flashlights and/or lanterns. You might also think about a cordless blower for cleaning outside carpeting or at least a broom.
I just went to Sears and bought a $100+ tool kit on sale that had most everything and then added to it in one of their canvas pouches.

Good stuff everyone! I have most of these, but a few I don't, and will add them to my toolbox. This is a great site for all of us...so much info from so many helpful, knowledgeable RVers!

Make a tool box that stays with it. Otherwise you are bound to forget that one tool and you are up the creek.

#2 Robson Square Drive...???
How about a hydraulic jack capable of lifting any axle including the tow vehicle axles, suitable sized lug wrench for trailer and tow vehicle lugs, wood blocks, flat blade screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, 100 mile per hour tape, snatch strap, flashlight and extra cell phone....

Tool Box
If you are getting a jack for the trailer make sure it is tall enough to reach the frame. You do not want to jack up the trailer under an axle as you may bend it!

I bought a stubby bottle jack, on 1 of my landing leg blocks it will lift the trailer high enough to get a spare on, I just place it under the spring U-bolt.
Personally I'd be more worried about bending the wafer thin metal the frame is made of.
