Site size

Search results are not helping on this questions. It’s possible I’m looking or asking the question wrong or the wrong key words. So……. I’ll try it here as it may help others. When looking for a camp site or rv spot, they ask for the trailer length and they have no idea what is pulling that trailer camper which ever you choose to call them. When looking into pull through sites I see that there are many different sites and am guessing that that that applies for class a rv. Problem is trailer is 36’ truck is 25’ so that is 61’. Trailer fits most of the time but then have to park the truck elsewhere and am not a fan of that. So how do you fol’s decide on what site and what length?

Pull through does not necessarily mean there is room to keep tow vehicle attached. I've always had room to park my truck on my site, even if it's perpendicular to trailer, or backed in parallel to trailer.

X2 But it depends on the campground. The one we go to most tells you the size of the site is up to you to make sure that it fits. The tow vehicle sits beside the camper.

There is no standard way to how campgrounds determine length,

Most site sizes take int consideration there is a tow vehicle involved if they have a selection for "ewuipment" and you enter trailer/length.

As NJKris stated, there is almost always room for truch even if you have to unhitch.

I camp a lot in Forest Service campgrounds and almost always have to unhitch. Truck then gets parked across the entrance to site. OK as long as it's off the campground road. Sometimes that's preferred as it discourages "walk thu's".

i try to pick a 40/45 ft pad. gives me 30 ft 5th w. trailer , backed up ,rear over hanging pad , back in boat to hitch head ,truck beside it . some st.parks frown on tires on grass ,most will ignore 1 tire on grass , whole vehicle is a no/ no. sometimes i park truck horizontal across pad.

Thanks

Thanks to all. Still learning which is always good. Just jotting down some notes as
Most sites I’ve visited are sometimes very tight. More reason to post reviews on camp grounds and rv sites. Again thanks to all, be safe.

Sometimes a trip to Google Earth will reveal a lot about campsite layouts. That is if they aren't completely covered by trees.
