sky light in bathroom
We just got our new Cedar Creek Silverback 29RE this week. Love the unit but the Sky light in the bathroom is clear, so on a sunny day it gets very warm in that room. has anyone put any kind of covering to disfuse the bright sun? Thanks Randy

Many have had good luck painting them white. Mine cracked due to poor workmanship and I replaced with White Lexan. I can hardly tell the difference in the amount of light coming through, and it is much cooler now.

Just ewmove the inside cover and install a couple layers of solar screen material or window tint and reinstall cover

Alternative
I don't have the same model RV but on my 5th Wheel I opened the sky light from the inside (mine is 2 layers) and put window tinting sheet from auto parts store in between. Picked a really dark tint and it worked great and substantially lowered the temperature. Hope this helps.

I recently bought Blackout EZ for my bedroom windows because we like it dark in that room. Works great, and can be removed when not needed. I wound up putting it in my bathroom skylight and shower skylight because they are attached to my bedroom and needed those dark also. You put Velcro around the material and around the window or whatever you're covering up. Material comes in black or white and the Velcro is white and black. I used the white Velcro for the bathroom and shower ceiling so it blends in when you take the material off.

Don't really need one for this thin material, you can brake it with a pc of wood or a straight edge. Layout is in the FRF library.

I bought a new sunshade for my truck. It had a pair of smaller shades with suction cups on them. I stuck one up there from the inside and it works like a charm. Fits like it was made for it.

The reason I put it on the outside was twofold, one to protect the skylight and two to keep the heat out of the inside all together.

I've seen example photos where other users sprayed theirs with Plasticoat paint. I'm taking the same approach. I've done one cost and it looks good from the interior. I'll do another coat when I have time. I have not yet been I hot sunny weather since painting it so I can't testify to its heat-protective effects.

Exterior, but maybe painting the interior of the outer shell could work, too. That wouldn't require getting on the roof.

There is an rv door window cover available that has fit 2 skylights i have had. Framed the light and the flexable shinny cover with velcro tape. Stays up keeps heat out can be removed easy when sun would help warm the room.

My very creative wife took a look at ours, went to the craft store and came back with window clings - we now have a stained glass skylight in our bathroom!
As for the bedroom, we bought a Camco Door Cover (Amazon was giving them away at $8.00!) cut to fit our bedroom window and now our bedroom is as dark as a cave - even in the mid-day sun!

But with paint on the outside and window cling on the inside, you still don't have hail damage protection on the outside of the skylight.
