Small tray or toolbox above Batteries

I'm looking to add just a bit of storage on the tongue of my Flagstaff Mini. I've seen some good boxes that allow the batteries and some storage. Has anyone designed a tray or mounting method to carry a small (light) box above the batteries?

There are some elevated trailer tongue racks, search Amazon.
Concern here is a near pound for pound weight addition on the tongue. And that is highly truck dependent.

Somebody sells a rack that will hold a small generator above the propane tanks. Something like that would work for a tool box.

We have one of those and love it. Fits a Harbor Freight 3500 watt generator perfectly and would also work great for a toolbox.

I bought one of those for our first RV that didn't have ANY outside storage. Camping World had it as cheap as online. That along with a big black storage/toolbox from TSC allowed me to store all the hoses, electrical, sewage, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have a bunch of other things to finish up but it looks like I will either go with the stromburg tray or a narrow truck box to serve as a battery box with a bit of storage.

On my last TT Flagstaff Classic, I mounted a second battery box by the primary on The tongue to keep oil, grease etc to prevent spillage inside rv bays. Might be small for your needs but the cross bars that held battery were ample for second box. Now have a small canvas bag from Harbor Freight with wrenches and sockets that folds under the rear truck seat just fine.

Putting Flooded Lead Acid batteries and tools in the same box will quickly lead to rusted tools. Think twice about this.

Looks like a PITA to remove the propane tanks for refilling-especially the 40 lbers that have a hard plastic cover. Not to mention the extra tongue weight.

Of course you will need to measure and find one to fit between propane tanks and body. I believe I had to move propane mount foward an inch. Box set on frame and I cut bottom out to clear battery boxes. Of course there was some air gap at battery box edge so I felt ventalation was good. Carried some common use tools chocks and other items I used often for easy access. NO PROBLEM with fumes harming Tools. Batteries still in battery boxes of course so no contact with batteries.

You could use a 4 battery Power Armor battery box from Torklift. It is a lockable aluminum box. I have one mounted on the tongue between the propane tanks and trailer.

I like this if it doesn’t impact turning radius. Next time I hook up I will see how much room I have with full turn when backing up.

I like these but the price is a bit steep for my needs...
