X3

Greasing the L-bracket will reduce noise (because it's reducing friction). But it will also reduce sway control (again, because it's reducing friction).

I think we need. Picture of what we are greasing and what we are storing. I have an inexpensive WDH. It came with grease fittings for the L spring bars. My WDH doesn’t provide any noticeable SWAY control. I have ADDED two “sway control flat bars” that do not lub except at each ball contact point. The L bars are greasy and heavy. I lay them across the trailer tongue as others have stated. I like the idea of welding two short pieces of 1.5” pipe on tongue to store bars while camping.

When I bought my first TT, I knew nothing about WDH use or operation as I had been pulling a tiny popup. The previous owner threw in the WDH as well as a couple of ingenious custom covers to keep the grease from getting all over... a pair of Crown Royal bags. They are the perfect size and to the job perfectly. And they take up no space.

When I am camping or storing, I like to be able to put the bars and hitch in my front storage as to keep them out of sight. The weight of them alone would make them a nice find for any scrapper thief.

So there ya go, now you just need to empty two bottles of Crown Royal. Godspeed.

When I'm done dumping my tanks I pull my blue nitrile gloves off with them ending up inside out. I have a small cardboard box in my storage compartment that I drop them in. When I unhitch I merely take a couple of those gloves and slip them over the greasy ends of the bars and stick them in the pass through storage. Also put a glove over the trailer ball. Any contamination is on the inside of the glove and my bars don't seem to care.

When hooking up I then just pull them off and throw away. Double duty and they do a good job of keeping the black grease off everything.

I still don't get why you need to grease on the Equal-i-zer bars.
Mine have been dry for the 12 years I've owned mine.

I don't lubricate mine, once I did spray the L brackets, and felt more sway than usual. Then I read the instructions, the L brackets need friction to prevent sway. The only point that I lubricate is what I would call the knuckle end that fits into the wd hitch, that appears to stop any noise. I never had to disconnect the sway bars to park.

These are the only places you lube an Equal-i-zer:

Fellow campers just love it when someone equipped with an Equal-i-zer hitch pulls into the campground around midnight.

Well, mine don't don't make that much noise and I never pull into a campground that late.
Maybe because mine is 12 years old, it's quieter.[emoji6]

hahahaha. Not knowing anything at all. When we bought our trailer in April, we pulled away and I literally thought stuff was "breaking off" my trailer with my brand new (completely dry no lube) Equalizer hitch. Pulled out of the first campground in the morning and folks were turning lights on to look out their windows as I drove by. LOL!! Then when we got to our new place I asked around, folks were like, "Oh yeah, if it don't make noise, it's not working!!". So leaving that campground... as I drove past campsites, whatever folks were doing, they would stand up and turn around and "look" at my awesome trailer. hahaha! Pulling into gas stations, I'm like wtf.. this trailer sounds like a piece of cr*P!! I distinctly remember turning to my wife and as I uttered the words she was mouthing them at the same time... "I hate my hitch!". I felt like I was hauling a nice looking trailer that sounded like a jalopy!!

More education... grease the hitch head as described in photo in previous post. Get the bracket jacket "made" by equalizer... poof... quite as a church mouse now. A few creaks, but not the kind that wakes the DEAD.

I use 2 ladder hangers, hang them off of one of the Cross members on A frame and then place the 2 bars on the hangers

This past season I installed these on our TT tongue aft of the "L" brackets and hanging below the tongue frame for the E4 hitch head and bars:

https://hitchport.com/shop?olsPage=p...-storage-mount

https://hitchport.com/shop?olsPage=p...-storage-mount

Extremely easy install and one of these:

https://hitchport.com/shop?olsPage=p...e-cable-lock-6

placed through the hitch pin hole and bar pin holes keeps them at the campsite. Also bought one of these:
https://hitchport.com/shop?olsPage=products%2Fhitchgrip

I was amazed at what a difference hitchgrip makes when removing head from truck and transferring to the hanger at approximately the same height off ground. Previously I would remove head and place under the tongue and throw a bucket over it to hide. I have no financial interest in these products, just use them and they work well for our needs.
