I'm still curious if the can be worked to a switch on the trailer or in cab or if they have individual switches to go on and off.

Even the amber ones can get border line when you see the truck and or trailer (semi) with the lights all over the outside.
For trucks (comercial) they have begun to lax up on the extra lights as it is now being used as an extra "safety margin" to be seen. It is still technically illegal but less enforced.
Here in PA they removed the ornamental lighting laws for motorcycles.

They are completely stand alone self contained with a small hole that you poke a (included) pin into to turn off and on. I turned mine off before getting the road several hours ago.

Again, I dont plan on crusing the highways and interstates with them, just as extra insurance when maneuvering tight unlit areas. I'm sure we've all experienced a few close calls.

I have one of these lights set to light up my shed when I go out to it in the dark. It does a great job and is moisture proof too.

Nice idea. I just ordered a set of amber lights. Using them for clearance lights at night in tight situations is nice but also as lighting around the unit at the site at night and if you have to hook up anything in the dark as well.

I think we all might be missing the boat here - Iron Cobra had an issue and found a solution to his problem. As nice as his modification turned out, he thought he would share it with all of us in case we experienced the same issue. I believe his solution would be considered the same as the "docking lights" that come on some MH's but for TT's. I think we might have read into his post that he ran down the road with these lights on, but, and I could be wrong, I gathered he used these in the campground when parking and setting up after dark.

I recall that a few years ago a lot of truckers were being stopped in PA for the various extra lights and hey had on their rigs.
I like the idea and they look great on trucks, not so much on motorcycles.
Has anyone else been blinded by the newer rear facing overhead lights on police cars? The PA troopers have very bright white lights facing on coming traffic.

if there was an off on switch and they were waterproof you'd be safe.
I was looking at something the other day that was 2 D cell operated but had s clip on the back that would fit directly over the wheel well of the rear tire.
Thought it might work as well.
On off switch with removable access.
I do like the solar light though as it also lights the stairs. (one of DWs peeves)

They have an off switch and they are weatherproof. Plus they are available in Amber.

I ordered the Mr. Beams MB520 Battery-Operated Indoor/Outdoor Motion-Sensing LED Step/Stair Light from Amazon. It runs off of 3 C cells.
I use it in the bed of the truck to automatically turn on in the dark. It works great!
Brighter than any of the solar lights I've tried in the past. I plan to buy one for the steps of the TT entry way.
I wonder if you could add a short string of LED rope lights under the fenders? It would run off 12v and illuminate the tires and the pavement below. Ebay lists a 1m length in various colors for $17.
Something to consider as it would not be aiming to other drivers, it would run off TT running lights, and may just do the job!

If you are trying to park it in a site at night, go in and turn both scare lights on.

I know that many people think that the lights are aimed at other drivers. Perhaps the picture is a bit deceiving as it was taken in a VERY dark environment with my cameras aperture set pretty high.

Supposed to be a jokingly "shake my head" at the subject line of the post. Clickbait titles are terrible and make people punch kittens.

I honestly thought it was a super great suggestion... No need to punish any undeserving kittens. You may not think so, but that's why God gave us the ability to form opinions.
It is a big deal to me because, though I've been towing for some time, have always hated pulling large trailers through tight areas with curbs and no lighting. When I brought the new Fifth wheel home, I had to take it through my neighborhood and the corner street light was out. There were cars and trucks on the road and I had to negotiate a pretty tight turn. It was so dark that I couldn't tell if I was about to curb my tire. I had my "Oh crap" face booted up and ready to implement in case I started to rub or roll the curb. I thought to myself, "wouldn't it be great to have some sort of lighting down there to help me see the curb ahead of time". I searched for a while and stumbled across these lights on Amazon for only $12ea. Seriously, a 4-8 LED Solar Powered, Self Contained, Weatherproof and motion detecting light that is the size of a couple of decks of playing cards for only $12ea....and their angled down! Plus the bonus of having an On/off button as well as going into a Dim mode when there's no motion. Yeah, has to be one of the lowest cost, best investments AND TIPs of 2016! In my humble (and apparently singular) opinion.

This idea I like. My friend just got a new ram 1500 and it came with LED lights for the bed.
