Tire Covers $10 at Princess Auto

For any lucky Canadians within proximity of a Princess Auto store, they currently have killer tire covers any size blowing out for $10 per pair -- yes $10! They are really good quality too! Measure the OD of your tires before you go as they have 4 sizes.

I think these are the ones: https://www.princessauto.com/en/deta...rs/A-p8287161e

Have fun!

Okay someone please enlighten me. Why tire covers? Are they required in some campgrounds if staying long term?

Long term exposure to the sun will deteriorate tires about as fast as driving on them. Least, that's what I've been told.

Yeah I figured someone would say that. With that logic, it makes me wonder why we don’t see them on cars that sit for long periods of time.

I have heard that in trailer parks that are permanent parking, it is required. More for aesthetics I would think.

My understanding is that exercising the tires by driving on them keeps them more supple. When they sit for long periods the sun can dry the rubber and make the sidewalls crack. I don’t use the covers much during the camping season but I do use them for winter storage. I also use a cover on the AC for the winter.

Tire covers
Not sure of the quality but I believe they are similar to the ones Harbor Freight sells for $9.99 for a set of four.

FYI for our American friends, Princess Auto is the Canadian version of Habor Freight.

It's called blooming. Here is a previous post about tire blooming.

Thanks. Do you have any recommendation for the use of tire covers? As I said in my previous post, I usually don't put covers on during the summer since I use my 5er at least every 3 weeks and the sun up here on the north shore of Lake Ontario probably isn't as hard on tires as it is in Louisiana.

What about tire protectant sprays? Lots of folks here recommend 303.

No recommendations on tire covers. It definitely wouldn't hurt.

As far as tire dressings, I do not ever recommend basic armor all. I've heard they actually changed their formula somewhat, but I've just seen firsthand too many times what that stuff has done to tires, to give them the benefit of the doubt.

There was a big stinkup over it years ago and was in all our tire trade publications where one of their armor all research employees whistleblew on that it was dry rotting tires and air bag covers. All kind of suits and countersuits came from it against this employee.
