Do a test....take your regular "at home" TP and put it in a glass of water. Then take the cheapo 1-ply lighter than air TP and put it in a glass of water. They'll both break down in plain old H2O. The 1-ply may break down a bit sooner, but they'll both break down.

As I've always said...."Life is too short to use cheap toilet paper."

But what is a "long time"? How often do you dump your black tank? When we're out, we dump about every 3 days. We've never had a problem with paper not dissolving. We use the store brand from Sam's Club and have not had any issues with it.

We have always used Angle Soft at home with our septic system and in our last 2 campers with no problem.

We just keep a garbage can next to the commode and put the tp in it and empty the garbage can every day. Been doing that since 1976 and have never had a problem. This way, we can use any brand or kind of tp we want and don't have to worry with it getting stuck on the probes. Pretty simple solution.

My in-laws did this. Put me down for one "no." But to each their own.

I also dump about every 3 days. It sounds like the Sam's club brand works great for you, however, back to my original comment....I decided to run the test again with Angel soft 2-ply septic safe and Charmin ultra strong (way too much time on my hands

). The angel soft which is very inexpensive and soft on the you no what broke apart in less than 1 hour when trying to pick it out of the water. After 15 hours (I'm not waiting any longer as that's long enough) the charmin is still intact and showing no signs of breaking apart. That is too long for me.

So the OP wanted to know if there was a less expensive TP to use that was safe for the tanks. It sounds like he now has several choices. But as I stated before, I won't take any chances by using the charmin.

Most marine toilets don't like any TP in them at all.
They grind up the poop and mix with water and deodorant chemicals and
that goes in the holding tank for pump out.
Any house boat that we've ever rented- we were told NOTHING goes in
the john that didn't come out of you!

It's easy to turn TP dirty side in and roll with clean sheets.
Drop in a wastebasket lined with a recycled WallyWorld bag and you're good.
There is no smell, your fingers don't get soiled and you know your
holding tanks aren't getting plastered with TP
AND YOU CAN USE ANY BRAND!!!

What ewww factor??? There's folks out there walking their dogs who
then stop and pick up steaming doggy poop with a plastic glove or
plastic bag over their hands!!! Are those folks (bless them for picking up!)
saying there's a ewww factor with putting TP in the waste basket?

We don't call it camping for nothing.
I'm just glad we don't have to dig a hole to have a place to go!

I'm the OP. price isn't an issue.lol. I was just looking for softness. I just didn't like John Wayne tp. You know "rough, tough and don't take no 2 off nobody". Lol thanks though. When it comes to TP money is no object. lol

I am new on here so please be patient but when we bought our trailer last August the girl in the RV store told us to buy Royal, apparently it broke down better and faster then the one they sold at the Dealership for RV's so we have been buying that.

The costco and sams brands that are septic safe work great. We have using them both for years.

I still have a couple of packages of Scott's RV tp but currently using one with the words "Marine RV" (or something like that) that is in use right now. I really like that one but I also like Scotts' RV tp too. Both of them are thicker and are on the gentle side.

If you watch the price RV tp can be reasonable price at Walmart but the second brand they carry is much higher.

We buy regular TP from sam's. We use the Geo method. Our friends use the drop-in chemical packs and the expensive "RV" TP.They had odor issues last year. We had no odor issues,clogging, etc. you don't need to waste your hard-earned money just because something says "RV" on it. The dealer just wants you to spend more of your money in his shop.

We have yet to use our new tt. However, I have tested some tp in water at home. The generic cub brand $1.50 2ply took 4 hrs to disolve!! Does any one know if this is good?

I don't think that is too long. How many rolls for $1.50 and how many sheets per roll? The angel soft I use costs around 65 cents/roll (on sale) and each roll has over 300 sheets plus it's nice and soft on the hiney.

Being soft is just as important to me.

We had found some at Walgreens ..1 ply stuff..at 44 cents a roll on sale ..while staying at St. Augustine beach from Jan-April..it work fine..

On our way back home from the Homestead area in early March we stopped by St. Augustine for a couple of days. Beautiful area. We wound up staying a couple extra days due to the weather storms north of Jacksonville.

If you find the 1-ply stuff too thin (as we did) you may want to try the angel soft septic safe 2-ply.
