I've seen a lot of recommendations for using vinyl gutter as a stinky slinky support. I haven't seen this recommendation on the FR site.
I bought 4 10' K-style vinyl gutter sections and fashioned a protector for my awning and slide toppers. It won't hold while driving, but for periods when in storage it should keep water from wicking into the awnings and will protect them from sun. Basically, the "front" side of the gutter snaps into the rain gutter on the trailer and general tension from the gutter against the awning keeps in on quite tight. I trimmed the front edge of the gutter so I could overlap 2 sections where I needed more than 10'. I also did some trimming that you can see in the third pic to clear the awning arms.
It will make a difference on which brand of gutter you use. I tried the brand carried by Menards and it would not lock in place. The brand carried by my local Home Depot works. I picked up this idea from member Swampy on this forum, so it ain't my brainchild...
