I have my GPS unit mounted low on the dash. The support bracket is secured to a wooded block that is shaped to fit a small opening in the dash on my truck. See attached picture of the block and support unit.

GPS

What type of gps do you have? I have garmin and love this one. It just lays on dash and you can take it down when not in use. So sun doesn't fade dash. Love it.

I use the bean bag mount that sets on the dash and never moves except when DW wants to pick it up to look up something. Later RJD

I mount mine on a windshield suction cup on the far left, bottom, so the dw can't reach it. [emoji6]
And it's low so it doesn't create a blind spot.

Depends upon what vehicle I’m in
When I drove the service van for a living it was by the a pillar on the windshield I use the same spot in the suburban
In the nitro with a close fairly flat wind shield I run it in the center
In the Subaru I haven’t found a spot I’m happy with
Mind you this is a 5 inch Garmin

Bean bag on the dash, just to the right of the instrument cluster, where there's a depression. I would use the onboard nav, but GM navs totally suck. But it's only used on long trips. For short trips I use Maps in Apple CarPlay.
