Winterizing/Dewinterizing question

This question goes out to the folks in the northern states who Winterize....

I am taking an early, short trip south to Fort wilderness campground at WDW in March, but don't expect to camp again until after the snow has left Ohio.

If you have faced this situation, did you dewinterize your camper for the short trip and then winterize it again when you returned, keep the camper winterized and just use the campground facilities, or keep the camper dewinterized for the remainder of the winter season?

My Roo 233s is currently stored outside so it is exposed to all of the elements.

Yes, you can dewinterize and then rewinterize.

Yes, you can use it winterized and use the CG facilities.

No, at this time of year you should not dewinterize and not rewinterize.

My vote is for dewinterize and then rewinterize. I don't think either activity takes a gross amount of time, effort or money.

i would dewinterize (takes about 30 mins) and then rewinterize which takes about the same time + 5 gals of pink koolaid which is under $3.50 a gallon at costco or wally world.

I also adhear to the "de-winterize and then re-winterize" principle. We are in Michigan and if we were to limit our selves only to freeze free months we would waste 4-5 months of camping.

We try to camp from early March to Mid Nov. I consider the # of "de-winterize and then re-winterize" cycles as a measurement of a successful camping year.

Thanks all. Sounds like it is a lot less expensive to be cautious and rewinterize so this will be the approach we take unless it is very warm in April

Would just blowing out the lines, leaving the faucets open, draining the low lines, and putting antifreeze in the traps be enough for a rewinterization, since it will only be for a short period of time?

I am in the same boat, as we want to get a trip in here in the next couple weeks, but then we will not be out again until the 2nd week of April. The weather here in Dayton, Ohio has been a bit nutty lately.

We may hold the record this winter season; we've dewinterized and rewinterized 6...yes 6 times this season. According to Bob Byrne, if we do it again, we'll need to get a new RV.

I say depends on how long you'll be gone and how much you use your own facilities. I have winter camped in my trailer when the campground had no running water we had to haul water to and from the camper by pail and jug. We used the toilet and sink but didn't use any running water. All we had to do was re-winterize the drains and black tank which is real easy. we just used the black tank for #1 stops or emergencies in the night so cleaning was easy. We flushed the john with plenty of water using a pail of water to do so. But it isn't that big of a deal to re-winterize but I wouldn't take a chance not doing so.

I live 80 miles north of dayton ohio by the time you get home just blow the lines outy and forget it will not get that cold by the end of march think spring

My 5th wheel with outside kitchen takes 4 gallon

I use a gallon of vodka in my boat (not much plumbing) and then drink it as a reward after launch day.

Thought of that on the camper but am afraid, I'd drown in my own blub blub

must be putting pink stuff in the WH or FW tank.
