Would do you do with food between trips

Just curious what most of you do with your dry goods, food items between trips. There are times our trailer may be parked for 2-3 weeks between trips. In that time, as you all know, temperatures inside the trailer can get quite warm. We normally leave canned goods and the like in there till end of season. But we normally don't leave cereal boxes, crackers and the like in there, as they tend to get stale. When we are home that long, we also shut down the fridge and freezer, allowing it to defrost. If we are just home a few days, fridge keeps running and all food stays inside.

We do the same as you.
Canned goods stay put, everything else comes out.
When we get home, I back it in to for easy access and we clean it out completely, sweep, all cloths etc..,
Then I park it on the side for till the next trip.

(shrug) If it's something like an unopened box of Ritz crackers, it stays in there. No problems with stuff like that being stale so far.

She sits here in the back yard...lots of shade....on shore power. Sometimes I go out and fire up the A/C just to cool things down, or if I'm going to be in it the next day doin' stuff.

Canned goods and anything NOT opened; cereal, crackers, chips, etc - stay in the trailer. Trailer is plugged in and fridge left on. Condiments stay in fridge, as do sodas, bottled water and other "chill-able" items.

DW also has an assortment of resealable containers to put in opened items, such as the crackers, cereal, etc. Haven't had anything go stale so far this year. Usually, things don't lay around very long, plus we're usually gone every-other weekend with the Flagstaff.

We usually leave everything that is not refrigerated or not yet opened in the camper. That way there is less to restock and it does not get eaten by the kids in the meantime. We use this stuff as our backup if we run out of something in the house.

Before we got shore power I lessened the aggravation of unloading and reloading all the condiments from the fridge by doing this:

We have an extra fridge out in the garage "just because". I put all the condiments in a couple of large zip lock bags and stored them there. Grab the bags and head for the RV, no worries about forgetting the mustard, etc.

Now with shore power I've been known to run out of something here at home and "borrow" from the 5er fridge, but I keep a list of things I've "borrowed".

Actually do the same thing with dry goods, etc. Just keep a running list.

Everything comes into the house. Leaving food in the trailer for a month between trips invites mice. We even bring in the canned goods - no since in it baking in the 100F summer temps.

All my dry goods stay in a plastic container with a sealable top that just fits into the kitchen cabinet. I pull the entire thing out for inventory, take the open stuff home and the unopened items stay in the container.

This also prevents bugs and critters from getting to them, too.

It's also easier just to pull out the whole container to get what I need, instead of trying to dig around through and over stuff in a dark cabinet while standing on my head...

It is in the house ready to be used or put back in the trailer, we leave nothing in it.

Trailer plugged in at the house with ac set to 80. She's always ready for a quick escape! Grab clothes (optional ) and milk type quick expiring foods and go campin!!!!

But then again, we have a contract with pest control for our S&B, and they also cover the RV for no additional charge.

RV could sing to other RVs: might be bugs (and mice) in some of ya mugs but there ain't no bugs (or mice) in me!

P.S. "seal a meal" is an RVer's best friend

We bring everything in. Since we don't have a pantry and limited space we carry all of our dry goods in plastic bins that use the floor level cabinets. When we get home we just carry them into the house, take out the open items that have to be eaten and set the semi-full tubs in our house's pantry. When it is time to camp we top them off and carry to the trailer. For the fridge we usually have so little left it is easier to carry everything back inside and shut the fridge down till we camp again. All in all it is still easier than when we tent camped.

We use a "Seal-A-meal for the stuff we buy in bulk, beans, sugar, hamburger and what not.
We just grab a bag and stuff it in the trailer pantry or the freezer, works great.
A small piece of duck tape to reseal it if we do not use it all at once.

Ditto, Larry.

Just eased Buffy back in to her back yard berth today, unloaded breads and meds only.

Tomorrow I'll unload laundry and the non-condiment contents of the fridge. A/Cs are set at 80*, ain't worried 'bout anything else.

Oh, I forgot, Sneak made a run back out there a bit ago, got his snack stash.

At the start of the hotter months I will remove items that I can use at home. My TT doesn't have a pantry so I use a single door lower cabinet to hold can goods placed inside of a plastic container. When cooler months come and & start camping again I will restock the plastic container. The container lid snaps on and I haven't had any trouble with unwanted visitors.

Same here - set up on seasonal site so easy to just bring bread and milk for weekend knowing everything else is usually there !!!
