15 gal Rhino mounted to bumper?

Has anyone tried mounting the 15 gal rhino tank to a pop up rear bumper? Would it be too much for the little bumper? Would it take too much tongue weight off and make less stable? Using a 2022 Flagstaff 228LTD Click image for larger version

you are fine. a spare tire mount and tire ways more, vibration will break welds or crack at bends. check often.

I'd be more concerned about the $120 donation at pit stops and away from camp site.

15 gal Rhino mounted to bumper?

It will work without question. 8.34lbs/gal of water x 15gal= 125lbs. Add a few pounds for the tank weight and make it an even 130lbs. Easy peasy.

Apparently about 30 lb. per their web site so round up to 150.

Everyone here does know that you are in the POP UP forum and not a travel trailer forum??

The bumpers on a pop up are not to be used to attach anything to, they are light weight and now even tubular. They are sheet metal formed in the shape of a C.

Now that bumper has a slot in it, at each frame support. These slots are where your bunkend poles insert so that they may support the bed.

If you mess up that bumper, you won't have a way to support the rear bunk and your camper is out of service.

Do not mess up your rear bumper.

BTW, the spare tire does not mount to the bumper, it mounts directly to the rear wall of the camper. Why? Because the tire is to heavy.

Once again, this is the POP UP forum where the campers use a completely different method of build.

Mike, unfortunately many don't pay attention to what sub-forum a thread is in. They see a new post and reply to it, without verifying what section it's in.

Yep, Unfortunately giving bad info.

Interesting point, so it seems what your saying is that a bunk that is rated for up to 1000 pounds can exert a downward force on the rear bumper is all good, but placing the weight of a 15-25lb tank on the bumper is not?

edit: 30.7 lbs just looked it up.

Sure, never tow something or put hundreds of pounds on a frame like that but 30 lbs? Really? I have stood on that bumper and I weight a lot more than 30 lbs.

I think what the OP will find though is that there is not enough room from the sides of the tire to the edge of the camper to not obstruct the brake lights.

I have a 2015 HW276 with the 15gal rhino mounted to my bumper. I keep it permanently mounted even in storage (except when in use, of course), but keep the vent open. So far, no issues to report.

Can you send a photo? Are you using the rack from the photos?

It's also not real obvious if replying through the phone app.

I use the green phone app exclusively. When looking at the recent posts, under Timeline, it clearly shows which sub-forum the thread is in. And you can also easily scroll up to the start of the thread and see where the thread is located.
So I don't understand how that isn't obvious enough.

I stand corrected. Within the thread, though, it's only at the top and scrolls out of view when reading messages. For people who are just browsing and see a message that prompts a response, it may not be immediately visible.

Some people are lazy. Apparently you're not one of them.
