176LTD pop up question

Hi!
New to this site.
I have a 2013 Flagstaff 176LTD.
It has a 4 pin hitch wiring. My truck has a 7 pin.
Three Questions:

1. The camper battery does not recharge when in tow. Can this be added (add 7 pin?) and is that an easy conversion?
2. The camper has its own braking system but not sure its operating. Does this also require a 7 pin to operate?
3. When camper is set up, and 110 electric hooked up, does that recharge the battery?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry, wish I could help on #1 or #2. But for #3, yes the camper is going to have a built-in battery charger.

1. The conversion from 4-pin to 7 is easy. You can buy 7-pin cables with a junction box already attached. Then you just attach the correct wires from the trailer to the correct terminals in the junction box. Takes no more than an hour to do a really nice job. You'll have to run an additional wire between the junction box and your battery.

2. Depends on if the trailer has surge activated hydraulic brakes or electric brakes. Surge brakes require no electrical connection. Electric brakes require the 7-pin connector and a brake controller in the tow vehicle.

3. Yes, trailer charges batteries when plugged into shore power.

1) As you stated, the Flagstaff 176LTD only has a 4 pin plug so it doesn't get any power from the tow vehicle. It only has Ground, Tail Lights, Left Turn/Stop, and Right Turn/Stop. So it doesn't charge the RV battery from the tow vehicle.

2) Unless someone added brakes the 176 doesn't come with brakes. It was an option, but if it came with brakes it would have a 5, 6, or 7 pin plug.

3) This RV does come with a converter/charger, so it powers the 12 volt system and recharges the battery when plugged into shore power.

Adding a 7-way plug to charge the RV battery from the tow vehicle isn't a terribly complicated job, but it's not as simple as just plugging something in.

If your trailer has a 4 pin connector, you only have lights. You would need another lead for brakes and one additional if you want a hot 12V to recharge your battery. I would question your trailer having electrical brakes as it would have a 7 pin connector. It could have surge brakes.

Yes to recharging your battery when hooked up to shore power. If you have surge brakes, the is a pin, similar to your hitch pin that disables the brakes when you are backing up. If that is left in, your brakes won't work.

What type of tow vehicle?
My Frontier was pre-wired for towing and I only needed to get the rear harness from ETrailer, same with the trailer brake controller.
Pre wired for many tow features. Super simple plug and play, videos on Etrailer to find out where the harnesses are located.

Duh, sorry I just realized your TV already has the 7 pin and is probably connected for 12V.
