2008 Flagstaff hw 25 s-c 12v safety switch

So my wife and I purchased a new popup and have began to explore the interior figuring out what turns on what, etc. The ceiling lights and vent fan on the ceiling will not work, with or without flipping the light switch by the door. Everything else works flawlessly in the camper, including the water pump and furnace.

I believe I've narrowed down the problem to the 12v safety switch, ours is attached on the ceiling. I have found a disconnected wire, but the problem is it looks like someone was messing around with the wiring previously, perhaps bypassing the safety switch, and I can't determine exactly where this wire should go. It's a yellow and white wire and has exposed wiring on the end - no connector or nothing and would be coming from the panel. There is a corresponding color wire coming from the ceiling but it is spliced onto another line. I removed the spliced line and connected it to the loose wire but that did no good.

The safety switch itself only has one wire attached to it, but I'm hesitant on rewiring without knowing exactly where all the wiring should go. Can someone please help a noob owner by posting a snapshot of their wiring on and around their 12v safety switch. Even if it's not an exact match of mine I believe if I had a reference I could figure this baby out!

Thanks in advance!!

I can't give you a photo, but the switch should have two wires to it.
