2009 Flagstaff Pop Up Motorized Lift Problems

Hey everyone,

Have a pickle of a situation. I bought a 2009 Flagstaff MAC 205 ST last fall from a private owner. It has the motorized lift system attached to it. When we bought the camper, the previous owner had a dead battery on it, so we bought a new deep cycle battery to replace it. But, since we have been camping this year, we have only had the lift system work perfectly only twice. What happens is the motor will lift it until it slows down, and then the internal fuse will pop and then the motor will not work. I have replaced that internal fuse about 5 times this season.
It seems like it is a struggle from the get-go when it rises. When it is put into reverse, it has no problem lowering the roof. I just want the darn thing to work every time. What could the problem be? Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

Have you lubed/greased anything on/in the system since you have bought it?

Wicked Winch - Lift System Troubleshooting for Flagstaff Camping Trailers | Roberts Sales

That link should take you to a Winch overview of how the system works internally and how adjustments can be made to the limit switches.

I'd recommend a dry silicone lube for the cable on the spool and lube the certs underneath. Look at your manual on how to lube the lifter posts. Seems like you want to try and make sure that the system is moving freely during the lift to relieve any strain increasing on the system.

good luck.
