2019 HW296 - Wench Cable Snapped when lifting Roof
This is the email I just sent Forest River.
We purchased our HW296 on 3/18/2019. From the time we picked it up we have had issues with the camper and the dealer. I would like the opportunity to discuss my issues, which I have fully documented.
Specifically, the most recent issue that occurred on 5/30/2020. We were getting the camper ready for a week’s vacation. I was raising the roof using the electric wench, the roof had risen about one foot and crash back down. The cable to the wench had snapped. We are fortunate this didn't happen while on vacation and that neither my wife or I were injured. Of course, our vacation plans had to be canceled.
I called the dealer on 6/2/2020 and the earliest we could drop it off was 6/11/2020. The camper has been at the dealer since that time and has not been looked at.
We had an old Jayco pop-up, so when we first saw the HW version, we knew that is what we wanted. We could have purchased a larger TT but really wanted to stay with a pop-up. We are now beginning to think this wasn't the right choose of camper or brand.
