Battery life

Thank you in advance, just bought a used Freedom 1640. The battery is dead, after replacement will the battery stay charged if connected via the cable on the side of the pop-up to a home outlet?

If there is a converter on the PU and it works it will keep your battery charged. However, I would recommend using a good 12 volt battery charger instead. It will do a better job than a PU converter. And just use the converter when camping if you have shore power.

Weird I just got "told" either here or on popup-portal the other day when I suggested a good "winter" minder type charger and he said the one built in to the camper is just fine, stick with that.

For me I don't want to "use" the onboard systems for that purpose and put hours of wear and tear on it. I would rather those hours come while its occupied

I have a ~$50 minder on mine with a "winter" mode.

If the on-board converter is working properly and the trailer's cord is plugged into shore power, then yes, it will keep the battery charged.
Suggest that you Google "the 12 Volt Side of Life". It's a good primer on the two different RV electrical systems.
