From the trailer's harness wiring there is an 8 awg white wire leading to the battery's neg side and a black 12 awg going to the plus side. Someone made a mess of things with a cob-job repair. The weakest link in the chain is the 14 AGW wire, which will create substantial resistance and a considerable voltage drop and current increase. The wire itself could fuse. Dumb.
