Best way to clean an awning

This weekend we went camping and I had our awning out. I noticed it had gotten quite dirty since I used it last. What's the best way to clean it? Can I take it off and use my power washer on it?

Here are before and after shots of the worst corner of my awning this year. I made a mistake in the fall, got lazy and did not clean it before winterizing. Mildew grows on the accumulated dirt.

I used LA's Awesome... and its just awesome!

The process I used was to dilute the concentrated Awesome, spray it on the underside (make sure to wear safety goggles and old clothes), climb on top of my camper and spray it on the topside of the awning, roll up and let it sit for 30 minutes. Unroll the awning and wipe off with a mop and water. I used a ladder and one of those green scouring pads for the tough areas like this corner. Rinse top and bottom with a hose when done cleaning. Let dry and roll up the awning.

Wow, that does look awesome. Where can I find the LA's Awesome product? My awning looks a lot like what yours used to. I would love to have it look like yours does now. Thank you for your reply.

You bet!

Amazon has LA's Totally Awesome. I think the Dollar Store has it, too.

Cool! I'll give it a try. I'll also check my local dollar store.

I just spent three hours cleaning mine, I cleaned it after the last trip and have not used it for seven weeks, I used straight bleach in a spray bottle and a terry cloth squirting into the cloth not onto the awning as you would end up inhaling it and it's not too healthy but it works great.
