We used this on our pups for several years and it is still in good shape. The back wheels do sit on the roof on pads provided. You do have to remove them to camp. Our bikes all had quick release front wheels, which is helpful. The bikes are very sturdy in transport with the provided straps. We also tried the receiver sleeve-mounted style (swagman). It became too crowded with four bikes, although we could still access the back window on an older style Ford Explorer. We also tried a hitch mount on the trailer itself and re-discovered the error of too little weight on the hitch.
