Buying parts from Forest River

HI
I see on the new off road pop ups there is a double step to enter the camper. I am interested in buying the double step for my 1910 Rockwood. The camp ground I stay at in Bristol Tennessee is very unlevel and I have a hard time getting into my camper. How can I purchase parts from Forest River direct?
Thanks
Joe

I've tried to buy direct before, but they wouldn't sell to me. I had to go thru dealer. My dealer did offer to drop ship directly to me though.

I tried buying two cabinet doors once and for 2 8x16 inch doors they wanted 150 dollars I asked for total price for shipping and they could not tell me but said it could be up to 100 dollars shipping. They are not set up to sell retail.

I found what I needed off Amazon , EBay, and Craigslist.

I have found its like walking up to a craps table and is dependent on a lot of things such as, and not limited to or in any particular order;

*The specific FR division you're dealing with.
*Who answers the phone, do they know what they're talking about, and what kind of day are they having.
*What direction the wind is blowing.
*Is Venus aligned with Saturn.
*Leap-year.

I've bought both a lift kit and replacement rock guard arms direct from FR with no problems.

Fair statement as different divisions have different policies about buying direct. My division (Palomino, Colon, Michigan) will deal direct on replacement parts and upgrade accessories. In fact they have a full time parts line and I've gotten to know the parts manager.

If I want something, I just call Brian in Colon, shoot him my CC number and in a week, it's delivered to my door.

I'm sure not all FR divisions operate that way, but Palomino does.

I purchased a water tank ($86) shipping ($80). Fender flairs ($18) shipping ($19). The shipping seems to usually be about the same as the item.

Buying Parts fro FR

Recently talked to one of the FR Techs about cabinet catches for my Sunseeker 2430 and was told to go thru local dealer which I did.

I also ordered a lift kit for my rig direct from FR without any problems. Cost was reasonable. Brokerage fees and shipping pricey but my dealer didn't know this kit existed so at least I'm getting what I require.

The asst service manager keeps saying no retail, and referring me to:

parts
Giant Rec World
407-656-6444
RV Parts, Accessories, Supply Store
terri or elizabeth in parts

They are very helpful, although shipping is often a killer.

Have you checked Camping World or Amazon about the steps you want. They have quite a few different ones, you need to know witdth of steps.

I needed a new rear ladder (don't ask) and contacted rockwood by email and got a reply with cost quote, and received the new ladder in about 3 weeks.

Last year at the Goshen rally I bought 2 cabinet doors for $30 ea. I had to pay freight(UPS) to the tune of 10$. FR seems to be a lot more friendly at Goshen than normal.

Buying Parts From Forest River

I think the manufactures have a policy to protect their dealers in which they won't sell directly to you. However, I wanted some special aluminum trim that they used on my Georgetown but I could get it from FR or find in on the internet. So I asked my dealer to order it from FR. That worked, although, I probably had to pay the middle man.

I purchased a shore power inlet direct from Forest River. No problems, quick easy and cheaper than Amazon or any other RV website I found. Here is the phone number: 574-642-2640

You are so very correct. I got lucky and got a hold of someone who knew what they were doing a few years ago. Purchased some doors, matching cabinet framing and some light fixtures directly for my Surveyor. It was a cumbersome process, but i think they gave me the same price as a dealer, based on the low price they charged me for the parts.

I purchased an adjustable step to use with our Wildcat. The bottom step is a little bit too high for me.

I have purchased various parts and pieces direct for my R-Pod. Transactions by phone and email were direct and straightforward.
