Canvas Tear - Repair

Hey all,

Whats the proper method for repairing a 3" tear in the canvas?
Its not on a seam, and has a few inches of clean canvas around the tear.

Thanks,

Bryan

I've used Tear-Aid on a few different things. Type B is specifically for vinyl. 6 years ago I used it on my garden tractor seat and it is still firmly attached. 2 years ago when I opened the bunk a small area tore off leaving the mesh backing. It's holding tight.

chances are what you are calling canvas might in actuality be vinyl... canvas is cloth where vinyl is plastic

Gorilla tape makes a quick, satisfactory, water-tite and fairly long lasting repair. You could use a swimming pool patch, as many out of ground and in-ground pools ( like mine) are actually vinyl lined.

x2 on Tear-Aid. I've used it on my canvas boat cover and it works / looks great. Easy to apply and durable.

I've been meaning to ask/find out how to repair vinyl, thanks to the original OP for asking for me. I have some on order.

We used a canvas backing and then DW stitched together and followed up with the glue (VLP). She even went so far as to dye the stitches using a blue Sharpie,,,, It looks really good!
