Draining hot water tank/ rockwood HW 277

I have read a little about this and think I know the answer but would like to confirm this. I have not been able to find a separate drain port for our trailers hot water tank. So thinking the only way to drain is to remove the element to drain? Is this correct or is there another way I am missing?

From your question, it appears you have a suburban WH. To drain a Suburban WH, you need to remove the anode rod. The large hex head in the center bottom behind burner tube. Be sure to ad a wrap or two of teflon tape when installing. Note it is a tapered thread and does not seat all the way in as a bolt would.

That is what I was thinking but wanted to make sure there was not another way. Thank you!

Keep in mind that the element and the anode rod are not the same thing.

Nooooo... plse don't do that! You'll fill the plumbing with all manner of scale and crud from the HWT and it can be a PITA to clean out.

I agree with this advise, with a little addition,"Not all RVs are plumbed the Same, draining through your LP Drains MIGHT draw White CRUD downstream"! Using the LPD as a WH drain can be a "Delayed Reaction Problem Downstream"! Youroo!!
