electric brakes

So, I found out we have to have electric brakes. This is beginning to feel like the first half hour of the Long Long Trailer. Fortunately, the truck has the round plug installed and the wire harness for under the dash came with it. It did not, however, come with the box that plugs into the harness. Would people trust an RV dealer to install the harness under the dash and control box, or would it be better to go the the Ford dealer? The seller said it has sway bars, so I am going to figure she is selling them with the rig.

Thanks

We had the RV dealer do ours. They threw in the labor for free. I don't think I would take it to Ford, they will charge too much. Many trailer shops have very competative fees (they have to becuase the work mostly commerical) and they know what they are doing (for the same reason)

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: TEKONSHA P3 BRAKE CONTROL + WIRING HARNESS FOR TOYOTA 4RUNNER, LANDCRUISER, SEQUOIA, TUNDRA TACOMA & LEXUS LX570 GX460 LX470 GX470. CONTROLLER + PLUG/PLAY WIRE KIT.
I purchased this brake controller after finding that the RV store was going to charge me 150 bucks for a entry level brake controller with hardly any adjustments.

Folks..

Buy the Tekonsha P3 and you will be getting the best one on the market for cheaper AND you will get to install the unit where you want to. Most RV companies will install this under the dash to the right of the steering wheel. The install of the unit could not be easier with the custom harness you can purchase from the company. You will receive the custom harness, as well as, an additional harness that you can extend out if the harness is too short.

Here is where I installed it on my 2009 Toyota Tundra..

Nice placement. We Velcro ours on the lower left just above e brake pedal. Easy to pull out when not in use.
