Electrical question

We are having a weird electrical thing going on with our new 2018 Flagstaff HW 29SC. It has been parked outside for several weeks. The other night the carbon monoxide alarm started going off (camper was locked down so nothing was burning propane). At the same time the speakers buzz every 20 seconds. It happened out of the blue. We disconnected the battery for several days. When we reconnected it everything was fine for a while. Then it started again. The travel door was open and the co alarm was still going off as well as the speakers buzzing every 20 seconds. Anyone have any idea what might be happening here. We are stumped!

The CO detector can have a low voltage warning, that goes off if the battery is getting low.

If you had it sitting for several weeks, and not connected to shore power, then the battery could have gotten low from parasitic drains (The CO detector being one of these drains).

It's possible also when you disconnected the battery, it kind of recharged itself a little.

I'm going to second this answer, and even tie in the speaker issue.

I'm willing to bet that the voltage was low and caused the radio to power off... then power on, then off, then on/off/on/off. This could cause your speaker buzzing as well even on 'off/standby' mode.

Connect it to shore power and see if that fixes things, then get yourself a battery tender so you don't fry that!

The buzzing in the speakers can happen when the converter is charging the battery especially if you are in an area of low reception My rig does it when its parked inside the shop and the converter is charging the batteries, if I cut the batteries and just use the converter then no buzzing.

You guys are awesome!! Thanks so much for the reply and that is what we figured. It is still pretty new to us so we don’t have a way to plug in to shore power at the moment. In the mean time we will just put a battery charger on the battery to get the power back where it needs to be. Thanks again!

Keep the battery disconnected when storing the camper. Otherwise the parasitic equipment will drain the battery in short order if you are not plugged into shore power and that CO detector will be sounding off. I always stored the camper unplugged and battery disconnected. Day before a trip, I would plug the camper into shore power, connect the battery and turn on the fridge to cool it down.

I prefer to leave my th plugged in while stored. Have a pad.in my back yard with a 30 amp pedestal. The converter takes good care of the battery and once per month I add water if necessary.

Letting a battery run down and then recharging from a deep discharge can cut years off it's life.
