Extra Lock
I am new to camping and we recently bought a 2017 Flagstaff 228BHSE, we took it on our first trip last weekend and everything was great except when our 3 year old would wake up around 2 am and unlock the door and go "looking to find a good buck to shoot" I tried everything from making a makeshift cover to go over the door handle to setting my heavy bag in front of it and the next night he had it all moved trying to go look again. I was thinking about a screen door lock or something but the tent velcro's to the door so I didn't want to put any holes in the door or tent and void the warranty. Anyone else have any suggestions on how to put a secondary lock on? Thank you

You may be able to:
1) reverse the handles (outside to inside) and use the key to keep door locked.
2) put a small bungee around inside and outside handles, just open Velcro at handle area to wrap bungee around the door frame and handles.
3) I will send you the ball and chain that I got when I got married, to put on the little guy.
Being only 3 he seems to be real adventurous, that means to me he has great parents.
Enjoy you new camper and make lots of memories. Hope you find a solution to your problem.

You don't want to make it too hard for you to get out (can't find the key) in case of an emergency . Might be simplest to just add a second inside dead bolt up higher on the door or even the old door chain.

It's a popup, not incredibly hard to get out in an emergency, lol. I actually had the Rockwood version of that particular trailer. My wife was freaking out a few years ago when I accidentally locked the keys in ours. She felt kind of silly when I calmly unvelcroed the door and reached in to pick up the keys.
What I'd look into is one of those magnetic door / window alarms. It'd probably only take once of that going off to stop the late night door opening.

Thank you everyone, all pretty good ideas I may have to start with one and go down the list until one does the trick.

Do you know if drilling holes in the screen door will void the warranty?

Trust me there are so MANY holes in your unit no one would notice ones with screws in them........

What about one of those child locks for a fridge or stove? They use sticky tape.

Is your 3 year old really awake? Or is s/he sleep walking?
I dealt with sleep walking quite a lot with my daughter.

We use an ordinary hook n latch like you find on a screen door. Our 4 yr old likes to flick the regular lock. We just installed it about 2' above the main one. Works fine.
