Look at a couple YouTube vids on how to install laminate and go for it. If you are hand at all you can do it yourself
I could be wrong but I don’t think the big box stores are going to have any motivation to help and will play dumb just to get rid of you. It’s probably break time after all. lol

I worked for LOWE's as a Kitchen designer and Sales specialist for some 15 years. I would love to have this small countertop job. I would make a drawing, send it to the fabricator for a quote, and have the customer come in and pay. A few days later the countertop would arrive and a few days later, the $$$ commission would be in my paycheck. Say HUH...they aren't interested?
That is a big problem with folks today. They aren't interested in customer service. However, I bet the next time the customer needs something, it could likely be for a $30K to $50K+ kitchen remodel job.
and they remember I took care of him the first time and they will take care of me the next time.
All one has to do is wait on them, be nice to them, and get them what they need. $$$$$
