Green and white wires

I own a 2002 Rockwood pop up. Under the trailer there are two wires that are not attached to anything. I’ve tried following them into the trailer and they seem connected to the place all the other wires are under the seat. Any ideas? See photo attached.

Have you checked them for voltage with a volt meter?

welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered typically on these rigs whit is a common and green is used as a ground. Looking at the pic I suspect the green was added as a ground at some time.

They could be ground wires that they meant to attach to the frame with their famous self-tapping screws and forgot to attach them.

There is no voltage either on battery or 120.

Start plugging in a radio into an outlet. If the radio doesn't work check the wires for voltage. You need a complete circuit to get something on the neutral (white) wire. Check all the outlets.

I'll bet the green wire goes to the AC ground buss bar in the power center, inside the side with circuit breakers. I'll bet the white wire goes to the DC negative buss bar which is probably attached to the floor right behind the converter section of the power center. You will need to pull out the power center to make sure. If that is true, then the wires need to be connected to the frame for grounding. The AC ground buss bar will probably have a few bare copper wires, and maybe a couple of green insulated attached to it. The DC negative buss bar will likely have a bunch of plain white wires attached to it.

19 year old trailer? No way I'd guess what they do. I'd insulate them separately from each other, secure them and never worry again about them.

This advise presumes everything works as it should with the pop-up.

Safe travels

Since it is a 19 year old trailer it could be that the screw that once attached the wires to the frame has rusted away.

They look like add-on stuff to me. Maybe someone was trying to solve a grounding problem?

Good point. He needs to put hands on it and fully trace them out. We can only give WILD guesses

For $8 this will tell you a lot more about an AC outlet.....but you won't get any stations on it....

The only way to know for sure is to trace them back to where they start. While I can respect the idea that you can just wrap them and seal them off there is always the possibility that it might lead to future problems that could be dealt with by removing them now. Odds are fair someone did some custom mod or addition that was removed so you will never know what they were for.

An experienced RV tech once told me not to trust wire colors in RVs. Some manufacturers will use whatever appropriately sized wires they have available regardless of the color, unless there's a safety issue. I replaced an audio system on my Cardinal and found various colored wires attached to the color-coded factory connectors. I had to manually trace the wires to see where they went. Like red at the back of the radio spliced to white with an orange stripe, for example.

What Mike said. Get some electrical tape and insulate each of them separately just in case they go somewhere and then forget them at least for now.

BTW, how long have you owned this trailer?
