HW296 Water Heater Issue

Just purchased a 2020 HW296 used. On our maiden voyage and cannot for the life of me figure out how to turn on the water heater. Confirmed it's got water. There is no "on" or "pilot" button or knob. Udderly confused. Any help would be appreciated.

Look for a red rocker switch labeled HTR inside near your control center, tank levels etc.

Post the make/model of your water heater.
Not all R/Vs use the same.

Should be located in relatively same place...make sure gas is turned on, too...

Glad you got it going. I have the same model and the fridge leaks a bunch of water in floor. Checked level- good and drain -good. assuming it happens during defrost cycle ?

I think on both the one I had and my current one they were reversed... down was on and up was off. I never understood that.

I didn't think the OP posted the picture.
I guess I didn't connect the same dots as you.
I was hoping to hear from the OP, sorry.

Yes, as I recall, the hot water heater on/off switch was counter intuitive. Press in the bottom for on and press in the top of the rocker for off. Meanwhile, the water pump switch worked as you'd think it would. I always thought the assembler just installed the switch upside down.

Since you're new at this, a suggestion.

Gas appliances don't like the long wait to purge the gas lines of air after a propane tank change. The fridge can be particularly fussy about this if running on propane.

Whenever you change the tank...or disconnect the regulator from the tank for any reason...the easiest way to purge the lines is to:
a) turn on a burner on the kitchen range until you have a nice, solid, blue flame. I always use a "stick lighter" to get the burner going...rather than the spark igniter. If there's a lot of air in the lines, the burner will kind of sputter to life, and the stick lighter can wait patiently while the burner fires up.
b) next, turn on the hot water heater. It's relatively large burner will purge the line well, too. But having purged the main line and trunk line to the stove will limit the time the igniter has to go "tic, tic, tic, tic, tic, tic" waiting for the burner to ignite and the temp sensor to tell the control circuits all is well.
c) only then, turn on the fridge. The tiny burner in the fridge doesn't move much propane, and the safety interlock controls can get impatient and shut down the fridge. But if the only section of propane line that needs to be purged is the short leg between the main line and the fridge, it will ignite reliably. If the fridge doesn't fire up on the first try, turn off the fridge...to reset everything...and then turn it on again. Also note that, if the fridge has been fully chilled on shore power, it might not be "calling for cold." If you want to test it, open the fridge door for about 30 seconds to let some of the cold "fall out the door", then ask it to start on propane.

And YES, you can run your fridge on propane while towing the rig down the road. There are many threads on this subject.
