Here's what my Manual says (and I have always followed this procedure):

"Level the camper from front to rear by raising or lowering the dolly jack as required.

WARNING: The stabilizing jacks are for support only and are not intended as a means of leveling the camper. Attempting to use the jacks as leveling tools may result in damage to the lifter system."
