lift problems on a 1984 rockwood pop-up

I have a 1984 rockwood pop-up. I purchased the push spring(122") this winter in and cut it to the same length as the old kinked one. The problem is that the side I replaced seems to be to short. what did I do wrong and can I just make an adjustment to the chain and make this work ?

Forest River didn't own Rockwood until sometime in the 90's. That said, they still have parts for the older PUPs. I would contact FR - they can provide you with diagrams, parts, and advice on what to do. FR is generally very helpful.
