Lightning pilot light

I just bought a 1640ltb, I can't get the pilot light to light.
Gas is on, put the knob on high pressed the ignition button and nothing, tried clicking the thing 100 times.
Is there something I'm doing wrong??

On mine the ignitor does not work for the oven. I use a long lighter. If yours is designed to start the oven try purging the lines by lighting a top burner first. Then you will know air is out of line and oven may light. Good luck.

Furnace and hot water heater are DSI. The refrigerator is not. This must be refrigerator which is hard to light because unless it's really dark outside, you won't see the pilot flame.

I always make sure the gas lines have gas in them by lighting a stove burner first. After that I know the gas line is pressurized.

I light it and then turn it off, and listen for the flame to go out. If I can confirm it has been lighting, I do it again and assume it has lit. Wait 5 minutes and check for heat out of the stack. If it is hot, your pilot light is lit.

In the dark it's very easy because you can see the pilot flame.

Not in a standard height pop up. Yes, in a travel trailer and maybe a high wall pop up but not in a regular pop up that uses a 1.9 CF or 2.5 CF ammonia absorption refrigerator.

Weird, every standard wall, regular pop up I've had since 2005 has had a DSI furnace that uses no pilot flame.

Since you have a 1640 LTD, I don't think it's your furnace. If you have a refrigerator and not a icebox, then it's your refrigerator.

Now that you mention it, one of our early pop ups had a fridge with a pilot. I completely forgot about that one.

OK. That clears up the furnace/fridge question. Now... if you do any searches, spell Dometic like the company does - without the 's'.
