I'm not 100% sure what shrouds are, but the way I read it it's the vinyl corner part that covers the bed ends (you snap and velcro the underpart then pull down the vinyl 'shroud' over it...I think) I do mine as soon as the beds are pulled out, but Eric suggested to wait and do it at a later step. I'm just curious as the reason for this.

I guess that makes sense on being able to step inside without stabs down but keep away from the rear bed! You must be super excited with your HW296, that thing is enormous!! I've just gone from a Fleetwood Westlake to a HW27KS and I'm really intimidated by it I feel like I'm having to learn everything all over again!

FWIW, I found with pop-ups and A-frames that it was easy to induce just the slightest bend in the frame when I put stabilizers down before I was finished with the camper setup. Just a slight twist in the frame meant the door no longer fit properly on a pop-up and the side panels on an A-frame wouldn't latch properly.

So I moved putting stabilizers down to the end of the mechanical setup. Even though I try to avoid having the stabs down beyond just kissing the ground, sometimes DW wants a little bit more stability when moving around in the camper so I put another quarter to half turn on. Happy wife, happy life.

Yes, if you climb onto the extended rear bunk before the stabs are down, the tongue will lift and the rear bumper go to the ground. Got the t-shirt for that ride. But I've never had the rotation happen if I stayed inside the box until the stabs were down.

Congratulations! And welcome to the HW296 club. We enjoy ours tremendously. This Covid 19 stuff is giving me fits on where to go but no fault to the pop up.

Enjoy.
