Major 2022 Highwall design change

Looks like the new 2022 Highwall models do not come with a hard walled bathroom anymore and use the standard bathroom cabinet and just a shower curtain used in the low wall Premier series and Freedom Series.

Starcraft years ago didn't add hardwall bathroom enclosures to their highwall campers right away. They made a model with the hardwall enclosure and a model without it.

I will admit, every used highwall model with the hardwall enclosure I seen had issues. The fasteners would break or loosen and the walls weren't really stable. Unfortunately this was on all of them I've seen. Besides it looks like a pain to have to take off the full size door and store it on the bed.

I like easier and simpler.

However I had to replace my shower curtain and so called privacy curtains because they were see through and also let the water come right through from the shower and soak the floor. My model comes with a wall to wall privacy curtain that makes a nice private area outside the shower area but you have to have the windows closed in the bunk or use it's privacy curtains, and the area the curtain closes off. Otherwise using the shower curtain provides more privacy but makes it a bit confining in there.

Hopefully the models now without the hardwall enclosures will add the sidewall to sidewall privacy curtain for changing and drying along with bathroom duties.

Also looks like the step door is changing back to a fiberglass door with a set of stairs that folds inside the camper and then folds outside. The same type that travel trailers use. I guess that 2 piece step door was needing an improvement.

What a bummer, that was the one thing my wife really liked about them and I was thinking of changing to.

When we were looking for a pup back in 2004 the hard sided toilet/shower was what sold DW on the Fleetwood Hemlock.

Just so you know the camper wall side is all open taking any privacy away. It would need to be filled with the curtain anyhow.

No issues with our hardwall bathroom

We have a 2014 276 HW and have had zero issues with our hardwall bathroom. It's the feature we like the most. And might take two minutes to set up.

Glad it worked for you. The 276 HW was my second choice of floorplans.

I have the HW27KS, the hard wall bathroom was one of the reason's I upgraded to a HW. The clasps that connect my walls are loose'ish & I've already had to re-screw one but that seems like the standard shoddy build throughout my HW. The walls are easy for me to set up & putting on/off the door is no problem.
I did see that they had gone back to a soft sided bathroom on the 2022's, hopefully it's just for a year or two models, while they plan a new hard wall.
